Title: Security National Airster S-1B
Post by: Daniel Petroff on October 08, 2008, 04:33:57 PM
This is one of the things that has been slowing the completion of the Nosen P-51. It is a 2 place airplane powered by a 5 cylinder 125HP radial engine built by Bert Kinner in the late 30's. The plane has folding wings similar to the Grumman cat series of WWII and is constructed of wood and some metal. Big model airplane.

More photos. Has about a 40 ft. wingspan with a 7 ft. chord, Clark Y airfoil.

Moving right along a max speed. The left wing is getting close to completion and we hung it on the fuselage for the open house. Amazing, it fit

Haven't updated this blog for some time. Had a major milestone Thurs. as we rolled the airplane out to fold the wing. Everything went smoothly and it looks great. Now to start working on the underside of the wing and cutting the aileron loose. Stop by any Tues. or Thurs. to see.

We are making progress. The left wing is getting very near ready for covering and we have the right wing quite a ways along. We also got a Kinner 160 horse engine to replace the original Security 125 horse engine. This is about like building a giant-giant scale model.

Progress is being made despite numerous detours. Both wings are now on the airplane and we are getting ready to set the dihedral on the right wing to match the left wing. After that we will build the struts for the right wing and hook up the aileron controls. Need some really big servos.
