The SCCMAS sadly lost one of its early members this past week - Brian Defrance, after a bout with cancer the past year. In his memory,  a fun fly will be held with a small memorial service and reception at the field. It will be Saturday, January 16th at 9:00am.  All are welcome. Bring out your favorite plane, enjoy a great day of flying and remembering of Brian's life.

Brian is shown here in the 1990's, holding the spinner of this Bearcat. He was known for his precision flying, endless knife edges, flying of Snoopy's Dog House, and anything else that a transmitter would be connected to!

***** Published details*****
Brian William DeFrance entered into rest January 6, 2010.  Born October 25, 1955 in San Jose, CA. Graduated Del Mar High School in 1974 and was a four time State Champion Wrestler.

Brian was a Master radio-control aviator and gave him great pleasure to teach others.  He coached Pop Warner Football’s Cambrian Valley Longhorns and Branham High School’s Wrestling team.

He is survived and deeply loved by his wife Denise Marie DeFrance, sons Darren DeFrance and Nathan DeFrance, mother Shirley DeFrance; sisters and their spouses Donna and Ken Starback and Denise and Richard Fox; step-son Jacob Hunter and grandchildren Onyx and Carly Hunter; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. DeFrance and brother Michael DeFrance.

A Fun Fly Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 16, 2010, 9am at Santa Clara County Model Aircraft Skypark, 10250 Monterey Rd, Morgan Hill, CA.

It was Brian’s wish that donations be made to the Melanoma Research Fund at the St. Mary's Medical Center Foundation to help Dr. Lynn Spitler make strides in combating the rare form of melanoma he acquired. MelanomaCenter.com
